Jordantero Co. works out of a small shop on South Pierce Street, a few blocks from Belmar. What arrives here is rarely simple: a Seth Thomas that has not run since 1987, a Black Forest cuckoo with collapsed bellows, a longcase clock that survived a cross-country move in the back of a rental truck.
We take the traditional route on nearly every job. Movements come apart completely. Plates are cleaned, worn pivot holes are rebushed, pivots are polished on the lathe, springs are inspected out of the barrel. Then the clock runs on the test wall for two weeks so problems appear here rather than in your living room.
What we will not do
We do not replace an antique movement with a battery insert unless a customer specifically asks. We do not strip original dials that can be conserved. And we do not quote a price before we have looked inside the case.
How a repair works
1. Talk
Call or send photos. Many issues can be narrowed down over the phone in five minutes.
2. Inspect
The movement is opened and assessed. You receive a written estimate with photos of the wear.
3. Repair
Cleaning, bushing, pivot work and reassembly — then a two-week run test on the wall.
4. Return
Delivered and set up, or picked up in Lakewood, with a one-year guarantee.
